meat_stk_wht Baked Chicken with Sauce - This super simple cooking recipe for chicken and sauce is so delicious! Oven baked first, then finished on the grill, there is even enough sauce for dipping, making it a kids favorite, as well!

Prep Time: 10-15 mins
Cook Time: 45-60 mins
Servings: 6
Main Ingredient: Chicken
Difficulty Level: 1

Ingredients to make Baked Chicken with Sauce

3 pounds of chicken
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup root beer
1 cup catsup
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 Tablespoons worcestershire sauce
3 Tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Directions to make Baked Chicken with Sauce

Step 1:

Prehat the oven to 350. Coat a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken pieces in baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until no pink remains in the chicken and juices run clear.

Step 2:

In medium saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients; mix well and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes until reduced by half.

Step 3:

Preheat the grill to medium heat. Coat the cooked chicken with the sauce and grill for 5 minutes per side, basting frequently with the remaining sauce. Serve with the remaining sauce for dipping.

Step 4:

If no grill is available, you can cover the cooked chicken with the prepared sauce and bake uncovered another 10 minutes until the sauce is sticky.
